My Venting for the Day

This is Bronson.  He's chained outside all day and all night...all the time.  He's fed supposedly twice a day and gets water at the same time.  The owner says if he dumps his water, its his own fault.  He is never walked or played with or even talked to.  The only words he hears from his owners is "Shut Up!"  He's a full-blooded German Shepherd, very gentle, and when he was little he was paraded up and down the sidewalk and shown off to all who would look.  But then he grew up.  No more attention.  He's stuck in a nook in the backyard where even the children don't go to play so he has no interaction of any kind.  The only reason I was able to get this photo was because the landlord had part of the fence removed while repairs were being done.  And the only reason his dog house is facing the cement "patio" is because I complained to the dog warden about him living in mud.  He has no straw or bedding of any kind.  I finally took a bale of straw over but it only lasted through a couple of rainy days.  That's trash around his house and mud on his body.  This is what it looked like before I complained.....
According to Ohio law, the only thing an owner has to provide is food, water and shelter.  They don't have to provide love.  But thank heavens the dog warden said they needed to get him out of the mud.  State laws need to change.  I have worked on getting him out of this situation for almost a year.  The dog warden, the police, a petition with all the surrounding neighbors no avail.  I have contacted an advocate in the Cleveland area that finds homes for German Shepherds and she is also working with me.  Bronson's only hope may be "relocation."  And I won't go into detail what that would be.  Ohio is one of the worse states in the U.S when it comes to protecting our animals.  It took a tragedy in Zanesville to get the laws changed for wild animals...what's it going to take for our pets who love us so unconditionally?  So, please, if you can write your congressman or state senator or governor or who ever you can think of....and advocate for stricter laws for our domestic animals, dogs like Bronson wouldn't have to live like this.

Quote of the Day - actually 2 of them

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being.

Ohio is one of the worst States for disabilities also yet we keep living here. I've grown accustomed to "the place". Keeping working it and what are you doing up at 2:33 a.m.

Haha, I had fallen asleep watching TV earlier in the evening. Woke up and decided to play on the computer for a bit. A bit turned into a couple of hours.
